Mary Evans Picture Library will be giving away a hamper stuffed with vintage goodies at this year’s Fotofringe.  Among the many items on offer to one lucky winner will be some fabulous products featuring Mary Evans images including art deco bath products, pin-up chocolates, mugs, notebooks using 1960s magazine covers and a bottle of the finest Hendrick’s Gin.

There will also be exhibition tickets, sweets, books and more.  ‘Our merchandise licensing programme has really taken off over the past couple of years,’ says Luci Gosling, Business Development Manager at Mary Evans, ‘and some of the products we’ve sold images for are very covetable, especially to fans of vintage style. The hamper is a great way to demonstrate the versatility and creative possibilities of our images and we hope it will be a talking point on the day.  And of course, anyone visiting our stand can enter the draw and possibly walk away with the lot.’

Mary Evans Picture Library will be exhibiting at Table 6 in the St. Pancras room at Fotofringe this year and looks forward to welcoming you.  If you would like to make an appointment at a specific time then please email pictures@maryevans.com.

If you can't fit it on a reindeer sled, you don't need it.

Bryan & Cherry Alexander are moving North
Their new address is:
Stittenham, Lochside, Lairg, Sutherland, Scotland, IV27 4EG

To celebrate their recent move to the Highlands of Scotland, and that the Glenmoranjie distillery is closer to the office than Tesco, Arcticphoto are offering a bottle of Glenmoranjie single malt, and two glasses, seen here (below) on our jetty, to the owner of the business card pulled out of the hat at the end of fotofringe in London on April 24th.  We look forward to seeing you there!

We decided that the people we photograph could teach us a lot about moving easily, even in the coldest of weather. Forget the removal van, use reindeer, lots of reindeer.  If you can't fit it on a reindeer sled, you don't need it.  When you empty the sled you can race your reindeer: you can't race a removal truck.

Well, we knew the picture researchers, graphic designers, art directors, and publishers of magazines, newspapers, educational materials, film & tv production companies, greetings card companies, advertising and pr companies who came last year found fotofringe a major asset to them - the feedback was fanstastic - but having just emailed all last year's savvy image buyers to remind them to book..... whooosh! So nice to run a win-win-win, with happy picture buyers/publishers, happy picture suppliers, and a happy organiser :)

WWF International (World Wide Fund for Nature International) in multi-year deal with Global Warming Images

WWF has concluded a multi-year deal with Global Warming Images that will see the award-winning environmental
photographer Ashley Cooper providing his current library of photographs to WWF as well as doing specific commissions during the next three years.

Global Warming Images is the world's only climate change photo agency and the world's single largest collection of climate change imagery.

WWF International Managing Photo Editor Paul Sunters says the deal will benefit both parties significantly. “We are delighted because as we increase our work in climate change and energy, so we have a need for quality photographs that best reflect the devastating impact climate change is having in our environment - as well as the solutions that show we can
overcome the problem."

Samantha Smith, leader of the WWF’s Global Climate & Energy Initiative says it is time to challenge conventional thinking on what makes up climate change imagery. “We were impressed by his library of photographs that aptly illustrate the issues that
contribute significantly to climate change. Through the commissions, we hope to be able to start redefining the imagery of climate change to make the subject even more pertinent in todays’ multi-media world.”

Cooper has been documenting the impacts of climate change for the last ten years. His travels have taken him all around the world, capturing graphic images at the front line of climate change. He has put together a significant collection of climate change images, all of which can be viewed at his agency site www.globalwarmingimages.net

His photo shoots have covered such topics as glacial retreat, permafrost melt, water resource issues, drought, forest fires, sea
level rise, adaptation, climate criminals, renewable energy, mitigation,  protest, food security and many more.

“I have seen the devastation that climate change is already wreaking around the planet, what I have seen truly scares me. Without rapid and radical action, life for millions will become extremely difficult. That is why I am delighted to be sponsored by WWF International, who is doing so much to tackle climate change. Together we can help raise awareness of the most
crucial issue ever to confront mankind,”  says Cooper.

In 2010, Cooper won the climate change category of the worldwide Environmental Photographer of the Year
Competition.
